The Medal was awarded for achievements in guarding the State border of the USSR.
The 1st men awarded the Medal were Senior Lieutenant D. Ignatyev, Sergeant-Major G. Gordeyev and the farmer V. Ageichenko on August 22, 1950.
Over 56.000 were awarded.

According to Paul MsDaniel "Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals" this specimen is a T4. According to the "Mondvor website", this specimen is a T4 V2. According to the same source two batches of this Type have been produced. Observed S/Ns for the 1st batch (1951) range from 354925 to 363984, and for the 2nd batch (1952) from 381002 to 400602. Which places this particular specimen somewhere between the observed S/Ns for the 1st and 2nd batch. A pretty rare Sub-variation.

Soviet Order of the Red Banner with S/N 350603. Excellent condition.
According to Paul McDaniel "Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals", this specimen is a T3 V4. According to the "Mondvor website", this specimen is a T3 V5. This Sub-var. is quite rare, only a few thousands have been produced with these characteristics, showing a star-shaped relief on the reverse of the Order, as well as a smooth semicircular fold, or roll or ridge, known as "valik" (roller) by the Russian collecters. The lowest S/N observed is 336297 and the highest is 359322.

Manufactured by MMD (Moscow Mint) in 1950-1951.

The curved down word "Monetny" is found only in numbered intervals around 87.000, 98.000 - 115.000 and 118.000 - 136.000. So not that many of this Sub-variation exist, they are indeed pretty rare.

This Medal was awarded mainly to foreigners in the Warsaw Pact Armed Forces for coordination and military cooperation with the Armed Forces of the USSR.

The Order of Friendship of Peoples/Nations was established by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on December 17, 1972.

The Order was awarded to citizens of the USSR, military, civilians or State Organizations. It was also awarded to foreign citizens and organizations. It was awarded for governemental, economic, military, cultural, or scientific achievements, or developing international friendship and cooperation. The Order was established to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Soviet Union.

SO. Lot 003 - Soviet Orders Series - Soviet Order for Service to the Motherland 3rd Class

Order for Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR, 3rd Class.
Serial number: 19137. Considering there were about 140.000 of the 3rd Class awarded, this one is a low Serial number. There is only one Type for each Class of the Order. This specimen is of the rare mirror-reverse variation, where the rays are visible on the reverse of the Order.

The Order for Service to the Motherland was established by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on October 28, 1974. The Order was awarded to servicemen in the Soviet Army, Navy, frontier Guards and internal Security Forces for Distinguished or Outstanding service.

The Type 6 Order of Lenin was awarded from the early 1950's until the break up of the former Soviet Union in 1991. This piece is a very low S/N for a T6V2, lower than the lowest listed on Paul McDaniels "Comprehensive Guide to soviet Order & Medals" for this Type and Variation.
